Local processing by design

Timeline Visualizer reads supported location-history JSON files inside your browser. In the current version, the file contents, coordinates, timestamps, generated preview, and exported video are not uploaded to our servers.

The route canvas uses a locally generated visual backdrop. It does not request third-party map tiles, so your coordinates are not disclosed to a map provider while you create a timeline.

Data retained in your browser

Imported timeline data is held in browser memory for the current session. Refreshing or closing the page clears that working data. A video is saved only when you choose to download it, and the resulting file remains on your device unless you share it.

Website operations

Our hosting provider may process ordinary technical logs such as an IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamp, and error diagnostics to serve and secure the website. These logs are separate from the location-history JSON you open in the tool.

The site may remember non-sensitive preferences such as language or theme. It currently uses Google Analytics and Pageview to measure website traffic. Those services may receive ordinary website-use data such as an IP address, browser or device information, referrer, page URL, and timestamp, and may use browser identifiers or cookies according to their own configuration. Analytics is kept separate from the timeline tool and never includes imported coordinates, timestamps, file names, canvas contents, or exported videos.

Accounts and payments

The current public version does not require an account and does not offer paid features. We therefore do not intentionally collect account or payment details through the timeline tool.

Sharing and sale

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose limited website-operation data only when required by law, to protect the service and its users, or to vendors that help host and secure the site under appropriate obligations.

Security and your choices

Local processing reduces exposure, but no browser or device is perfectly secure. Use a trusted device, keep the original export private, review the preview before downloading, and avoid publishing a route that reveals sensitive homes, workplaces, or routines.
